Adventure Training Camp did not disappoint

After driving just over 5 hours we arrived at Fairbourne in North Wales for the Beds & Cambs Wing AT Camp.

Over the course of the week we had 11 cadets taking part in various AT activities plus 9 (including our very own Cpl Ball, Cpl Bierton and Cpl Chandler) completing their Gold Assessed Duke of Edinburgh expedition.

The AT Camp activities consisted of:

  • Navigation training

  • Low level hill walk.

  • High level hike on Aran Fawddwy.

  • Mountain biking and geo-caching at Coed y Brenin;

  • Paddle boarding from Fairbourne to Barmouth.

  • Rock climbing in Barmouth

  • A local walk

  • High ropes and zip line course at Zip World in Betws-y-Coed

Alongside this the DofE group completed a climatisation day which included a walk up Cnicht, and had some down time on the high ropes and a zip line course, before setting off on their 4 day expedition. The highlight of their expedition was definitely reaching the peak of Cadair Idris (Penygadair) on day 3.

Lots of fears and challenges were faced head on over the week and everyone showed true resilience and teamwork throughout. A fantastic time was had by all cadets and staff.
