After our successful first week return we have given the cadets a chance to brush up on their ironing and polishing skills, and beginning the return to uniform! On Tuesday we ran some STEM activities learning about reciprocal frames. After a brief introduction to the topic the cadets then tried building a Da Vinci bridge. Which is a self supporting bridge with nothing but equal forces and friction holding it together!
Great to be back for face to face parade nights this week. On Tuesday our first group of 15 cadets had a virtual visit by Wing Commander Kelly, who congratulated the squadron for being the first squadron in the wing to return. The Wing Commander also congratulated ex FS Bierton on passing his wing SNCO board and appointed an adult Sergeant (Sgt). The Wing Commander also promoted Sgt Harvey to FS. This evening we welcomed the second group of 15 cadets back to the squadron.
Congratulations CWO Abby Bierton, on your appointment as HM Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet for Bedfordshire. The role of Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets is to support the Lord-Lieutenant in carrying out her duties as The Queen’s representative in the county and their selection and appointment acknowledges their outstanding contribution to their Cadet service and to the community.
We are very excited at 1985 (Flitwick) Sqn after being given permission to return to face-to-face parading. Last night we held an online briefing session for cadets and parents to run through the safety measures. We look forward to returning from 20th October.
